Pål H. Christiansen's fanblog

The Italian version of Pål H. Christiansen’s novel “Drømmer om storhet” that will follow on this blog from tomorrow on was made by Annalisa Maurantonio. She has studied Scandinavian literature, has been a teacher for Norwegian and also worked with an Italian publisher where she published the translation of “Poetenes Evangelium” the anthology by Håvard Rem. She also has an Italian blog about Norwegian literature on http://norlit.splinder.com/.

Annalisa is a freelance translator – doing it for her own sake and not on commitment.  She chooses books she would like to translate or would like to see translated into Italian. That’s how she started translating “Drømmer om storhet” (like a lot of other books including Pål H. Christiansen’s Fjodor series, still unpublished but who knows…?).

Annalisa about Pål: “I knew about Pål H. Christiansen, because of my university studies in Norwegian literature (Yes Pål, you are a matter to study) and my personal curiosity to go deeper in the knowledge of people and things. When he wrote “Drømmer om storhet”, I was immediately caught by another interest of mine: a-ha and their music. The ideal world met in one: music and literature all at once.

In my attempts to become a writer myself, I created a myspace and the one who sent me a friend request on myspace was… Pål himself! I do really appreciate his cordial and hearty way to meet people. I was impressed – and still am – and from that moment on we became also a little bit accomplices in divulgating his talent in Italy.”

As it takes a long time to find a publisher for a foreign edition, we had already published a little part of the book on the Italian a-ha forum. Now Annalisa has agreed on having her translation published bit by bit on this blog. That way all the Italian fans who have been waiting for so long can at least read the novel this way. And maybe we’ll even find a print publisher to show his interest in Annalisa’s translation?
